I've been shaving with a Trumper's razor for a while now and I love it!

I've used a double edge safety razor, brush, and a similar shaving cream (Taylor of Old Bond St, I believe) for a couple of years. It's a much, much better shave than the new stuff.

There's a lot to be said in favor of Trumper's products. They do require a few changes in shaving techniques to reach an optimal result, but I find their effect to be generally superior to that of "modern" brands indeed.

For example, have you tried their Skin Food? It's a combo pre- and after- shave that is as special as it is strange.

On a side note, do cross the street once in a while — quite literally — the next time you are in London, and investigate D.R. Harris. They're a competitor of Trumper's and offer very complementary products. I find what one brand does only moderately well the other excels at, and vice-versa.

My first shaving set was actually about the same. My mom thought it was old junk from my grandfather and threw it out.
It was the best I've ever used though.

You shave with a straight razor? How long does that take in the mornings? I can't imagine it's something you'd do when half asleep...
